About Tignes

We first visited Tignes Val Claret about 5 years ago and immediately fell in love with it (we liked it so much, we bought the apartment you can rent!).

At an altitude of 2100m, the resort of Val Claret is high enough to ensure a lengthy skiing season. Add to this the fact that it has a glacier (3600 m) which is open for skiing throughout the summer, and you begin to see the attraction.

Tignes Val Claret is at the upper-most part of the Tignes valley, ensuring it gives excellent access to the whole ‘Espace Killy’, which encompasses all of Tignes, as well as a large chunk of slightly-posher-but-not-as-good-skiing Val D’Isere.  Meaning that you could probably ski hard for a whole week without touching the same piste twice if you tried to.

La Ferme du Val Claret

The beautiful 2 double bedroom skiing apartment to rent in Tignes Val Claret was built in 2006 by the prestigious MGM construction company, the traditional wood and stone cladding beautifully complementing the modern luxury interior.

For the off-piste fans, Tignes offers some of the best powder in the world, including the famous ‘Le Spot’ area, which is a monitored off-piste back country trail served with a lift.

And on the subject of lifts, Tignes continues to invest heavily each year in a lift improvement programme, which already makes the resort world-class in terms of speed up the mountain. In addition to scores of speedy 6-8 man lifts, there’s a ‘funiculaire’ train ready to power you up the inside of the mountain and onto the glacier in minutes.

In terms of capabilities, we’re told that it’s a great all-rounder place to visit, equally as fun for absolute beginners as (ski) seasoned professionals. Also, with snow parks a plenty and a half pipe right in the resort, there’s as much fun for boarders as there is for skiers.

More information is available on the official Tignes web site.
